Saw Rent last night, live. It was a really fun show (except for the sing along loudly girls right in front of us). And the getting severe head pains from trying not to cry too noticeably. I hate that.
In some ways, it was like watching a show at a high school. Not because of the quality of the acting, which was fantastic, but the audience response. You don't see many plays where the actors are whooped and cat-called after nearly each song.
It's definitely a show that invites multiple viewings all at once. My sister is going back tonight. I want to, too, even though I'm trying not to spend too much money because of the whole job situation.
Bigger news is we went to the stage door. Took us ages to find it (the ushers didn't give good directons and I finally got tired and was just, "Let's go to the back; that's where it usually is. And, by that time, most of the actors were gone; we walked right by Mimi, who may have gotten hurt during the performance [it sounded like she bruised her arm]). But Harley Jay was there (Mark; he still had eyeliner on, and you know how I love boys in eyeliner) and Aswad (Chrismas caroler, Mr. Jefferson, pastor, others). I did my usual, "Avoid actors at all costs" thing and made my sister go up for autographs on her own. We did talk to Aswad, because he was very friendly and turned to us (not that Harley Jay wasn't friendly; he was, but he was also talking to a group of other fans at the time). So, it was an adventure.
I collect programs for shows I see. I was thinking that i should get them autographed, which leads me to be all, "I should go back to see it tonight and do that." But I"m a poor coward, so..
I really need to be in another play. There are a lot of auditions coming up. Community theater, of course, but it's still acting. I haven't done it in a year. If I was brave, I'd tell AppleOne that I just want to temp and then start auditioning for real things (commercials, plays, TV, etc), but I'm not and I have bills stuff, so...
Ah well. I had fun.
