If you thought the miniseries was slashy
Aug. 23rd, 2005 07:05 pmI'm rereading Lieutenant Hornblower and enjoying it a lot. But, wow, it's hella slashy, isn't it, even without Horatio's first true love, Archie Kennedy, existing.
Example 1:
Bush watched as Hornblower's capable fingers worked the parallel rulers across the chart; Hornblower had long bony hands with something of beauty about them, and it was actually fascinating to watch them doing work at which they were so supremely competent. The powerful fingers picked up the pencil and ruled a line.
And what else, exactly, Mr. Bush, would you like thos beautiful fingers to "rule", hmmm? Shall I venture a guess? *eg*
Example 2 (if you've seen the mini, then you know that in The Mutiny, Horatio strips down in front of the crew and takes a naked shower on deck. Archie enjoys this shower very, *very* much. Even Bush seems pleased. Can't get much slashier, right? Well...)
Bush, looking at Hornblower revolving under the sparkling stream, was consious of a prickling under his shirt in his heavy uniform coat...
Yeah. I'm sure that's where the prickling is. In you shirt. Right, okay.
I love Bush. Um. Lt. William, not George W., and, in this case, the man, not the female part that goes by that name sometimes as well. Although....
