Problems, I has them
Oct. 30th, 2011 04:55 pmFeeling better than I did last night. About ten minutes after I got to the theater, I broke down in tears. The head costumer found me in the bathroom and I told her it was my cousin's funeral today. She talked me down and was very sympathetic. She was very kind to me the whole performance, which was nice.
After we started, I felt better. I feel better now. I'm still sad, of course, but I feel better.
Anyway, my "problem" is this (and it sounds horrible after that, but...):
My Halloween costume is a girl version of Captain America. I got a glam wig to go with it because I figured girl!Steve, especially in part USO uniform, would have nice hair. But... my kids (the boys) are were making faces when I told them I was going to be Captain America. I heard them say something about a teacher or some female dressing up as Batman, "But she wore lipstick." I don't know if they meant that made it okay or what. But, now I'm not sure if I want to wear the wig (or lipstick) because I don't want them to think that if girls dress up like superheroes, they still have to be girly in some way. On the other hand, the helmet doesn't fit without the wig.
Any advice?

Stupid spirit halloween store
Sep. 24th, 2011 02:30 pmThey only have the child's Captain America shield, which is teeny tiny, and also about 19 bucks, which is ridiculous 'cause I could get one a little better that shoots frisbees (or something) from Target for cheaper. Also, they only have brown "Captain America" gloves. They do, however, have a cheap (kids) army helmet that I'll buy next month and spray paint blue.
Maybe I"ll make the shield... somehow. Maybe cardboard boxes, modeling clay and duct tape?

Captain America
Sep. 17th, 2011 05:33 pmOkay, so, I've got the first half of the first part of my girl!Captain America costume done. The stripes aren't coming out as straight as I want, but I think I was being unrealistic when I thought I could get them more perfect.
In other news, someone solicited me for donations today inside Target. I gave him my best, "You should be so FUCKING ashamed of yourself you stupid, STUPID MAN," look before saying, "No," like it was totally obvious. Then I told on him.

(I have no Cap icons; I need to fix that)
