If I had asked my dad to write a story about a girl who saves the world, and he wrote The Passage, I would kick him.

Not that the book is bad. As a plague/vampire/survivor's journey book, it's engaging. As is The Twelve (although I'm getting tired of the individual stories ending abruptly TBC in the next book), but, dude. This is not a story about a girl who saves the world. It's about a girl who holds some kind of power in her and all the men who get to do actual shit while she sits off screen and is mysterious.

Someone keeps coming into my house, throwing stuff on the floor, and using my dishes making my house a perpetual mess. I would kick that person, but I never seem to see them.

The next season for the theater I do plays with was just released, and I'm not thrilled. The only musical I'd really be interested is Side by Side with Sondheim and that's during Comic Con. They're doing Crazy for You by Gershwin, so maybe I'll put in for that. Their plays are Grapes of Wrath (ugh), Importance of Being Earnest (only thing I actually want to be in), and A Song for My Father.

So. I'm a little bit meh right now.

I'm reading The Passage by Justin Cronin. I've been dying to read it for over a year as it combines threeloves: a plague that sweeps the nation, post-apocalyptic words, and vampires. But not pretty vampires, just dangerous ones (not that I don't like the other kind, I've just OD-ed). The problem has been that the hardcover is a gazillion dollars, so I've been waiting.

Borders is being stupid and didn't get Deadline like they were supposed to (and since I have issues with the first Feed novel, I didn't want to preorder it. Which makes no sense, but whatever. But, I did find that The Passage finally had come out in paperback.

It's so good. But I'm reading it so quickly, I have a feeling I'm going to crash hard with post book blues when I'm done.
