Star Trek

My kids have never seen Star Trek before, and one of their tests questions was on it (What in Star Trek has come true, or something like that).

I have the following episodes:

Amok Time
Q-Who
Tapestry
and all the movies.

I may still have Best of Both Worlds, Datalore, Descent, All Good Things, and Encounter at Farpoint somewhere. I want them to see at least part of a Star Trek episode, so...

Which one should I show them? An episode or should I show ST4 because it's the most accessible to people who don't know the show"

I'd vote for "The Trouble with Tribbles," but you don't have it, so I vote for ST4.

I would show the movies as the series is a rather dated palce to start now.

It's an open-eneded question. More of, what sorts of things did they have on the show (or movies) that are now in existence.

Well, I'm more inclined to show them the original shows thinking of all the many examples there of technology we do in fact have today.

Flip Phones = communicators
Computer Disks = take a look at all the colored square disks they used
Computers that talk
Computers that are voice activated

I'm sure there's more that's just the first four off the top of my head.

oh and door that open automatically....
