I'm not 100% thrilled with gmail, but I've been too lazy to switch everythign back. The text on any actual e-mail is miniscule and I don't like the way it stacks LJ all wrong and that it has a hard time letting me reply to LJ comments. This morning, I don't know if it's gmail's fault, though. I'm tryign to reply to a reply made by
raelan in her journal on why, even if they throw Clark a big 18th birthday party this year, I won't believe that he's turning anythign but 19 in May (sorry, Almiles, but among all the other evidence that he's already 18, I refuse to believe that Martha Kent was stupid enough to think she could pass Wee!Clark off as 2 years and 5 months when she found him; he was bigger and more developed than Lana was, and she was three) and the comment won't post. So I try to go to her journal, and my computer can't find it.

Of course, hotmail isn't much better right now. I'm getting even more spam than I ever did, unless COTW fans are sending me e-mails with the subject line "Sex" in it.
I found my vampire novel last night after days of searching. It actually flows a little better than I thought it did, but it's still too long (about 300 pages) for the amount of stuff that happens (nothing). And it's not all the well developed; I mostly like the characters.
I was thinking last night that, part of my problem is I dont' know if everyone knows what vampires are or not. I've always supposed that it'd be like a BtVS world, in which only a select group of people actually knew that vampires and demons were real. I could, however, do like an Anita Blake verse, where everyone knows, so when the vampires take over, it's not as shocking.
But, first I have to, hyou know. Write it. *sigh* Why can't it write itself?

Date: 2004-10-24 10:37 am (UTC)i know it seems collossally stupid but some people really can't tell or guess the age of other people especially kids. maybe martha is one of those?

Date: 2004-10-24 10:47 am (UTC)I highly doubt it. People who can't guess kids ages tend to be people who are indifferent to children. And she *has* kids to compare Clark to: Lana and Pete. She knows Lana is three years old and can see that Clark is bigger and more developed. He's actually probably older than three in the Pilot; I'd say around four or five. I always assumed they said he was three so he woudln't be too much older than his classmates since they were going to have to hold him back a year or two to allow him to acclimate to living on earth. He can be a big three year old, not a big two year old.

Date: 2004-10-24 11:50 am (UTC)Remember Season 1 where Lana tutors Whitney on his English assignment? When I first saw that, it struck me how a Freshman (Lana) could help a Senior (Whitney) much. Is it also possible to become head cheerleader as a Freshman? I'm not from the States so I don't know how it's done in American schools but doesn't seniority count a lot in team sports?

Date: 2004-10-24 02:10 pm (UTC)It's ever so slightly possible that the HS is a 7 or 8-12 school. So, if she'd already been going to the school for one or two years and on the cheerleading squad, I suppose it's possible for her to be head cheerleader. But, no, not very likely. So it was very stupid.
As for Lana helping Whitney, it's possible he needed help on grammar/spelling issues and not theme related things, and I think it's plausible for a freshman to help a senior on that. Grammar ability is based more on how well you pay attention to it in class, and I can see Lana getting it faster (both because of paying attention and because she's a bookworm) than Whitney. So I'll give them that.
As for Clark's age, i actually never had a problem with him and Lana being older than your typical freshman. It fit for both of them, Lana because of the trauma she'd had during a crucial time and Clark because he needed time to adjust to being on Earth.

Date: 2004-10-24 04:47 pm (UTC)Maybe Almiles will if they're going to have that big 18th birthday bash for Clark...or maybe Lana. Is it an American tradition to have a big celebration when kids turn 18? I've always wondered about that.
Here, girls have their debut party which is huge...at least two ballgowns, 18 roses and candles, etc....almost like a wedding, actually.

Date: 2004-10-24 07:01 pm (UTC)No, it's actually a tradition to have a huge debute-like party at 16. That actually might be the debutant "coming out" age, but I'm not sure. But that's why I'm saying that Lana turned 16 in Craving (besides the fact that they've mentioned her birthday a million times this year with the intent to let everyone know that she's an adult now so it's *okay* *rolls eyes): it was a huge, semi-formal, Sweet-16 birthday-like party.

Date: 2004-10-25 12:36 am (UTC)huh, and here i thought the party in Craving was just a plot device. :) thanks for clearing that up.

No, they're just trying to say the relationship is legal. Which is woudl be anyway, since the age of consent in Kansas is 16, but this way, even if they're not having sex, everyone is clear that these are two adults in a relationship and not an adult and a teenager.
