Whisper is one of those Smallville episodes that could have been good had the writers just not been lazy. It's got brilliant parts: wonderful Lex/Lana interaction, a new power (sloppily dealt with, but, yay!power), Clark in glasses, sexy Lexy, Chloe/Lionel smackdown, and Clex love.
However, it also has Clark's inner ear, plot points that make no sense, even more painful Clana, weirdly acting Martha, a horribly rushed timing (all this happens in a day or two) and a stupid FOTW.
The Chloe-screw up actually isn't all that bad, because it highlights how very young she is. And it mirrors Lex's ineptitute in dealing with his father, suggesting that, while alone, they can't out manuver the Magnificent Bastard, but together, their power will be so great, they can Rule the Universe.
Or something.
Anyway. I think this episode highlights the overall mediocrity of the writing team. They have fantastic ideas, but, for the most part, are unable to do them justice.

But he sure was cute in the regular glasses. Hope he still has them around.
