I find it mildly distrubing that Barnes and Noble sent me an e-mail to encourage me to preorder Neil Gaimen's new book because I have "previously purchased a book by" him. I know it's all computerized, and the track my every movement through my preferred reader's card, but this still bespeaks a level of organization hertofore only possessed by things like the Terminator.

I have the Waldenbooks card, and they never notify me about anything. All they do is send me five dollar gift certificates, on occasion. Not that I mind those, but some news about what's coming out soon wouldn't be bad.

Have you signed up for e-mail alerts? Walden doesn't send me things as frequently as Borders (Borders is the parent company), but I've signed up for alerts for both of them and get info fairly regularly.

That's a good idea. Now that I think about it, I don't remember ever giving Walden my e-mail, probably because I still didn't have a computer when I signed up. I do get lots of e-mails from Borders, though.
