Another Van Helsing thought
May. 18th, 2004 08:28 amI was thinking about the whole werewolf/Dracula thing, and there is a way it could have worked without me wanting to bash Stephen Sommers's computer. This is how it could have worked:
Anna, Valkin, Frank, and Faramir (what was his name? Carl?) all survived the carriage crash. Van Helsing finds out about the serum *before* Valkin dies, but knows it is too late for Valkin. They hold him anyway, for some reason that I don't care. Or Valkin escapes and is running around randomly.
Then, after the ball or something, they realize the only person who can kill Dracula is a werewolf. Van Helsing get's that look. Anna cries and screams and tells him no, he can't go. He kisses her into submission and rushes off to find Valkin, gets bitten, and then kills Valkin because now he's beyond saving. Then, he goes to kill Dracula.
It's still contrived. It's still a little, "WTF?" because, again, I don't understand why only a werewolf can kill Drac; I would have bought it in Underworld, but not this. But, at least it doesn't rely on the wonderful coinicidence of Van Helsing getting bit before they knew.
