Same old story, what's the use of tears?

Don't you hate it when someone writes the same story (or the same basic idea) as you, only worse? It makes me feel dirty. Like, a. was mine as bad as that and b. wouldn't it have been great to read the same idea, only gloriously uplifted?

I suppose I'd much rather see a poor imitation than one that is millions times better. The latter makes me feel really ineffective.

Yeah, but I *like* the idea. I want to see is wonderfully done, and ten times longer than what I did. I want to see it explored from every angle and brought to a satisfying conclusion with lots of sex.

And, most of all: I don't want to have to write that conclusion. Because it's not in a fandom I write in reguarly. So I don't want to do the work, just reap the rewards. :)
