*headdesk*
Mar. 20th, 2004 02:44 pmI went to the evil jobfair from hell today. The one where, for the first hour and half, ever frickin' table I went to I was told, "I'm sorry, we aren't hiring teachers," or "we might be hiring, but we're not accepting resumes," or "we're accepting resumes, but only hiring high school/math/science/special ed/etc." Then there were the schools that are hiring, but aren't using paper anymore, so we have to do it all by computer.
Which leaves me to ask: WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING AT A JOB FAIR IF YOU'RE A)NOT HIRING, B) NOT ACCEPTING RESUMES AND C)ARE ONLY DOING COMPUTER APPLICANTS???????
Jesus, people.
The only "good" part of the day was being able to be totally rude and sumg to this really offensive lady who kept standing by me in line. She was just ... very angry and pessimistic and rude to me. I ususally try to be nice when standing in line with people, but this lady got on my every nerve. I pretty much ignored her, only saying yes and no until finally I started shoving in her face (all sweetly, of course) that every district that's turned her down for an interview so far is recommending me to be hired.
Of course she had an excuse for that, though. She has 6 years experience so they won't have to pay me as much as her. She of course ignored the fact that another woman there had 8 years expereience and everyone wanted her.
I'm so tired, my vision is blurry and I can't stand on my feet. Am considering getting a pedicure, except that'll take too much energy. If I do go to Montery (which I am)
garryowen will have to drive the first leg back after the fair, because I'll be beat.
Oh, uh ... I'll be e-mailing you about that
garryowen. :)

Date: 2004-03-20 10:40 pm (UTC)wow, I know what happened, all those districts took big budget cuts and didn't have money to hire new teaching positions, but didn't have the sense to cut their representation at the job fair and save even more money. I'm serious, I bet that's what happened. It's exactly the same kind of bone-headed thing my school district would do.
Wow, that sucks incredibly, and I hope it doesnt' happen to you again. What idiots.
