I have to go shopping either today, Friday or Saturday. I accidentally gave Mom her birthday present for Chanukah and now feel stupid. I didn't mean to, but I'd gotten her a calendar from that discount mall night. She doesn't like to get calendars as gifts because they're too expensive and she gets so many in the mail for free. But, I love calendars and it was 20% off and it was early Beatles pictures, so I thought, "Why not?"
Then my brother came over for the 'first' night of Chanukah (what? It was!) and they got into a discussion about calendars. He doesn't have one yet, and she pulled out the three she was trying to decided between. S. took one of beautiful landscape pictures, which he's very into right now, so he informs me, and left my mom to decide between Norman Rockwell and cartoon bugs. She started talking about not having to buy one, and I got nervous, and, boom, I pulled it out.
Now, I've also gotten her the Sandy Coufax book she wanted, so I'm still covered for one present, but, really, a calendar is neither a good Chanukah or Christmas present. It's fine for a birthday, but if it's the only thing you get for the holidays, it's really lame.
Luckily, I think I heard her say she wanted a Nora Jones CD. Or, if not that, there's always Eva Cassidy.
I've printed out COTW 42 and am editing/revising it as we speak. Soon it will be ready for beta, provided beta's aren't completely overwhelmed by the holidays.

I'm working on that icon, by the way. I'm trying to find the right caps, and it's not easy... but working on it. :-)
