Oh my God!
Oct. 15th, 2003 05:12 pmA few weeks ago (perhaps even a month ago) I recieved some feedback saying that blah blah, liked the series but ohmygod you looked like you might have a girl having sex with the boys and ewe it's squicky so even though I check every 00/ heading to see if it's in the pairing (or anything indicating a threesome, etc) and haven't seen any evidence, is she a part of the Clex. Then it went on to say how she's very sad she can't read it, but it's just so squicky, and she likes her CLEX alone (something I can understand if not always agree with) so I *have* to e-mail her right away and tell her if Chloe is part of their relationship.
So I did. And I told her. And I told her I could't promise what I told her would always be so because a. I don't know very far in advance what i'm going to do, and b. I've always been fond of the idea of a Clex + girl threesome anyway. I was very polite and then said that if it squicked her so much, perhaps she shouldn't read.
Today I recieved the *exact same* e-mail. It bothered me before since I always feel that the people who write letters like that to me (I can't read it if you do such and such) are trying to blackmail me in some way to write the story they want, but, on the other hand, if it looked like
rhiannonhero was going to turn the "Orbiting" series into a very dark, very unahappy, torture ridden BDSM/eventual death fic, I might send her a note asking if that's what she was going to do for my information. So I try to treat those emails politely and answer the question without giving too much away.
But to get the exact same e-mail from the exact same person ... *growl*. Instead of deleting it, I should have told her that not only are Chloe/Clark/Lex together, but Lana is having an affair with Martha. :)
Does anyone know if there are any good mystery novels where the main character is a lesbian, without the plot focusing soley on her sexuality?
Smallville tonight! I don't know what the epsiode title is. Have to go find out.

Date: 2003-10-15 06:00 pm (UTC)I don't guarantee this, because it's a long time since I read them. There was a series of mysteries in which the detective was a lesbian, and we didn't find out for sure until like the second novel that her S.O. (who had a unisex name like Chris or something) was a girl instead of a boy. I *think* it was the Kate Martinelli series by Laurie R. King (who also wrote the Mary Russell - Sherlock Holmes stories.)

Love you icon!

Date: 2003-10-18 12:03 pm (UTC)Hee! Of course you can blackmail writers for the stories you want. Didn't you know that? We writers are among the most corrupt lot of them all, even more than politicians.
Of course, if you do, you start a kerfuffle and end up on fandom_wank, but that's okay. Sometimes you get the fic. I, however, have a moral code second only to Superman's, so it's not going to work. :)
