First Formal Observation
Sep. 18th, 2003 09:17 pmHave I mentioned lately how much I rock? I mean to proclaim how totally awesome I am?
First formal observation was today in math. It was a hectic day since my M.T. and I were going to an in service at the district office. I went back to school to teach my lesson, then back to the in service, so it was a little stressful. Add to the fact that I had to implement a new homework collecting method *and* change seats because of some discipline problems, and I was nervous.
I did great. The lesson went terrifically, and my university supervisor was highly impressed. In the column that she used to write down comments, all I got were "Hoorays". And the greatest part was how the class actually got quiet themselves. She thought they were noisy at first, but since they were talking about math, I was fine with it. As I was explaining it to her, one of the kids suddenly went, "Shhh," and an absolute hush settled over the room. They'd *never* done that before. I've been playing music during math, and they are supposed to keep their voices to a level where they can here it. I think that they hear the music (it was the Moldau by Smetna, so it started really, really softly) and realized they were loud.
Anyway, it went great. I guess I'm supposed to call her so we can talk more (I don't know why, and I'd rather talk face to face, but whatever), but I'm really, really happy. :)
