Modify the last from "each child" to "you", and I start thinking of all the ways I waste time not doing anything and being unhappy about it (as compared to not doing anything and it being restful or satisfying) and how I need to stop it because I'm not going to get a second chance at this.

Thanks for the quotations. We sell this book at my bookstore. I've never read it, though. But I think a lot about the kids that come into the store and how they are being shaped by the books I give them and by how I treat them and talk to them. I

I'm realizing more and more how important it is to talk to kids--well, people in general, but espeically kids--in a positive way. And, if you can't be positive, at least respectful, because otherwise, their whole existence can be underminded. And, since their kids, they dont' have as many defenses or ways to rationalize why people are meed to them like we can.

The First Days of School is, like, the best teachers book, ever. I'm glad you got a copy of it.

What grade are you student teaching? Or did I all ready ask you?

I'm student teaching in 5th grade right now. I'll go down to primary in a few weeks.

Sadly, I don't own the First Days of School yet, I'm just borrowing from my master teacher, but I will definetly get my own copy soon. It's a fantastic book.
