Soooo Tired
Aug. 3rd, 2003 09:10 pmSeriously. Huge, long ass weekend, not that I'm complaining, 'cause it was great. On Friday I discovered my new toy: the Aqualink. For 2 dollars during the summer, and 1 during the fall, spring and, hopefully, winter, I get to go on a superfast boat ride (well, 25 mph) across the bay from nearish my house to the aquarium that I was raving about a couple months ago. The boat ride is about 25 mintues and, as I said, cheap. So, I bought my membership to the aquarium, and i have one more thing to do when I'm student teaching and broke this summer. Squee!!!!
So, Friday I did the Aqualink with my family. We didn't go to the Aquarium, but I discovered a hat shop (!!!!!) and a place that sells coffee and creps at the end of the line. We did that, and then came home where I worked on COTW 39.
Saturday we went do to Carlsbad to kyak. I *love* kyaking. Apparently, I can get one of my very own from Cosco for $300. Am tempted to by one of my own because, dude, my very own kyak! I also found out that my cousin is part frog since she's not walking, instead preferring to hop around everywhere at an incredibly fast pace on her knees. I did not, however, actually see her in person. But I did kyak.
Today I did the Aqualink again with my friend and got the Aquarium passes. Don't tell her, but I almost fainted in the jelly fish display. Not because I'm afraid of jelly fish (only real fish), but because it was so crowded there was no air. Quite scary.
Oh, when I was kyaking, there were fish that jumped out of the lagoon. Quite scary as one of my major fears is that a fish (especially a koi fish) will attempt to touch me. It does not bode well for me snorkling, but there it is. I have fishswimaphobia (a fear of swimming with fishes). I wonder if it's masochistic of me to want to go to the aquarium all the time, except I'm fine when fish are behind glass and I love touching sharks and rays and stuff. Plus, otters!
Now, I have a pounding headache and am tired. I got *two* letters wondering why I haven't written/posted COTW 39 today. Both were filtered to junk mail for some reason. *sigh* For anyone who cares, COTW 39 is back in beta, having been extensively rewritten, and COTW 40 is being written now.
In five weeks, I'll be training to be a student teacher. In six, I'll be student teaching. If I weren't so tired, I do a little dance. Make a little love. Get down tonight. Instead, I'll just sleep.

Re: shy about sending email to people I don't know
Date: 2003-08-05 02:47 pm (UTC)Thank you!! I have a lot of fun writing each fic, although there is a lot of frustration involved too. The boys (and girls) don't always do what I ask. I'm flattered that you think I'm a good writer; sometimes I feel like a hack, but that's probalby becaues I'm too close to me.
Believe it or not, its taken me about six months to work up the nerve for this, but I figure if you've given me hours of enjoyment and stress relief, the least I can do is thank you for it!:)
Seriously, don't ever be shy about telling an author you like their work. I know it can be intimdating at first, but I don't think I"ve ever gotten anything less than an, "Thank you for the feedback!!!!!" And I tend not to bite. ;)
I live in Chicago and go to the Shedd Aquarium as often as I get a chance, and I agree with you that manta rays and sea otters rule. Dolphins and penguins too:)
I love dolphins. I use dto want to be a dolphin trainer, but that dream sort of fizzled out as I grew older. I'd still like to swim with them one day. My aquarium only has puffins, not penguins, but I love watching them when I go to Sea World.
Thanks for your comments. If you ever want to e-mail me, my addie is in my profile on the user info page.
