It's just not a great day, mostly because I'm not all here. Last Wednesday I realized I'd become one of "those" people who were panicking because there were a million and 2 projects due the next week. I was just unique because I'd thought I was all caught up. Silly me. So, from Wednesday on, I had a horrible headache and my eyes hurt like hell. When I went to see "X2" again on Friday, I had to keep my eyes closed during the previews because all the flashing lights hurt them. The movie was okay, though; go fig.

So, I did the stupid internet projects, and the lesson plans, and the rewrites and the case study. And then on Sunday I found out I was supposed to write a 2-3 page paper on what I've learned in my reading class since the midterm.

Jesus. How do big does the font have to be to get "Nothing, Lady," to take up two pages?

Bullshitted my way through the paper (And from my students I learned to always be patient and flexible and blah blah, suck up points).

Finished the X-Men 2 fic and sent it off of beta. Who got sick. Not because of fic (I hope). Poor beta (hugs [livejournal.com profile] reccea).

Little brother came over for Mother's Day dinner. As usual, his present was better than mine. I thought the Eva Cassidy CD was good. Stupid Angels/Dogers game.

Brother finally watched the pilot episode of Smallville. He doesn't like Lana. He said she was hot, but he wasn't thrilled that there was 'that kind" of love interest on the show. Personally, I think he should write for the show. He's better than writing scripts than I am since, you know, he's a script writer and I'm primarily a novelist.

Anyway, he was also perplexed by Whitney's character. He said what he liked about Whitney was that he *wasn't* a jerk at first; he was really nice to Clark during that first scene. And then the scarecrow thing, which was unbelievably cruel. S. (Brother) said something to the effect of, "I know they did more to Mathewe Sheperd, but what were the writers thinking?" I pointed out how much more pointed it gets when you factor in the homoerotic subtext, and he agreed. He's very good about not getting annoyed at my slash vision; he even agrees sometimes, like when I asked him if he realzied in "Usual Suspectes" Keaton was in love with Verbal Kint. S. sort of shook his head and said, "Yeah. It makes the movie makes sense."

People need to write more Usual Suspects slash.

So, we got home, I worked a bit on the "red" fic (I'm trying to avoid another Lana scene, but I know I need one) and read the first fic in Lanning's Identical series. I really like her characterization and plot.

And then, I couldn't sleep last night. I knew the headache would be gone because there was nothing left to be stressed about, but I abso-fucking-lutely coudln't sleep. So, around 1:30, I finished watching "Live with Kevin Smith." Big mistake. The rest of the night, his voice was in my head, talking about how I coudln't sleep. It sucked.

I really wish I could have worked a line like this into COTW 18: The Last Layer.

"You're not going to hurt me, CLark."

"But I popped the ball. You don't know that."

"I trust you."

"Why?"

"Because I am not a squeaky ball, and you know I"m not a squeaky ball, so you won't squeeze me as hard as a squeaky ball. You won't pop me or break me. I trust you."

Okay. Back to work.

I'm going to post it in my live journal after it's been beta'd. It's a Logan/Scott fic, short, angsty, sadly not smutty. :)

*shudders at your character choice*

*ponders, and tries very hard to picture the hotness that is James Mardsen and not the comic drawings*

*fails miserably*
