I wonder if COTW needs some sort of guide. Like a companion, only simpiler. It woudl help me keep track of the little details and also everyone else because, let's face it, there's a lot of fic out there to keep straight and COTW is a little... convoluted.

Trouble is, I don't know how I would go about it. Should it be a timeline type deal, with the major events in order they happen? Should it be by character where I list the things that are true in my series that might not be true in the show (like Lex getting sick, or Clark _not_ telling Jonathan that he thinks he flew)? I know I'd need to do something about the OC's, since they're taking on a life of their own. And then minor character relationships (especially Lionel) would have to be dealt with somewhere. And I'd want to do important dates (like the birthdays, when Clark/Lex got together, etc).

It's probably not necessary, but it could be fun to do. I'll have to give the matter more thought.

Cliff Notes!

Make Cliff Notes for yourself. Grab one of any story at your local library and follow that format. It usually includes an overall timeline, a few line description of what a particular chapter is about, character descriptions/bios, and questions/loose ends to ponder/resolve. Just leave additional space to add things to your character bios, and check off your questions/loose ends as you resolve them. I think that'd work best, because it is a huge universe that diverges into AU land with c5.

You could make several companions, like one could be a timeline, one could be a character descriptor, one that has the events that are true in your universe and ones that are canon to the series. I think it'd be interesting, even as an avid reader, to see all of those different types of lists.

BTW, I just started reading your series earlier this week and it's really amazing! I have been spending every spare moment I have to read it and I'm already on chapter 31! I love how you deal with the canon events and conversations and make them fit into your universe, it's awesome!! Yay for epic fic!!

I'm probably going to end up doing something like that, sort of in Cliff Notes style (only without the essay questions and commentary ;) I always like reading timelines and character descriptions for tv shows and books I like; it'll be interesting creating one.
