My mother cried over this book. Twice. Maybe more, but only twice in front of me. She never cries over books; we tend to leave that to me. Books, movies. Commercials. I'm a weepy person.
It didn't recommend the book very strongly to me because I already knew I'd be reduced to a weepy mass over it. But she so very rarely buys a book she hasn't read and gives it to me. So I ready it.
Anne Frank and Me by Cherrie Bennett and Jeff Gottesfeld. It's not the best book about the Holocaust (The Devil's Arithmetic by Jane Yolen was a lot better), but it's got one of the most touching lines. It made my mother cry twice. And, once you get into it, it's a good read.
The fact that it's written by the same people who wrote Jitters (I think) and two of the young adult Smallville novels is weird, though.
Anyway, it's a young adult book, so if you know a teenager or want to read it yourself, I recommend it.
