I'm posting my GAYLE award nominations here as well as at TWOP. I enjoyed the episode on some levels. The major frustration, of course, was Lex's character. It ... wasn't Lex. It was some pod person. Very sad.

GAYLE nom's:

I'm sure many people are under the mistaken impression that Clark and Lex didn't spend one scene together in the entire episode. So, here's the truth

GAYLE: Clark's not sleeping well and Lex, being his BEST FRIEND (read: lover) has been sitting next to his bedside (couch) ever since hearing that Clark isn't feeling well. Suddenly, Clark wakes up from a nightmare, calling for Lex. Lex grabs his hand and puts his other hand on Clark's sweaty forehead and says, "I'm right here, Clark." Clark replied, "I dreamed you disappeared." And Lex whisperes, "I'll never leave you, Clark." And...
They share a look so Gay and so full of Love, it is the Gayest Look of the Century.

GAL: Lex to Helen: I'm practically family. (or will be, once Clark is legal)

Ho!Nay!": Lex asking Dr. Helen to move in. Except, obviously he did that so he can keep an eye on her to prevent her from researching Clark further.

PHOC: Lex fed Clark a carrot stick. No! A _real_ one, when he was sick.

SWOLI: Pete's: I'd rather be D _J_ than De Coy!" or maybe just him handing Clark the "Talon" mix.

Juvie: Chloe realizing that life really isn't a fairy tale, no matter how much we want it to be. And my heart breaks right along with you, honey. Let me give you my phone number; call me and I'll comfort you.

Playtpus: Goes to Lana. For whatever she said at the end about death making you realize how important people are or something.

BIG: Uh, the big old Lex/Clark kiss when Clark was sick. Or when Lex decided to see if _he_ could heal _Clark_ for a change (that line only makes sense if you read Corner of the World; and yes, that was a plug)

DICK: Sweaty, sick Clark. Yes, I'm sick, but my heart melts when one of my boys is vulnerable.

DRILL: Lex in the last scene with Helen; for whatever reason, that outfit made my heart go pitter pat.

Working!Gaydar: Helen. She saw Lex with his arm around Clark when they were standing over Martha's bed, anxiously waiting for some indication that she'd be okay.

Y!IFHSTD: the ship. It saved Smallville! Or, at least, all the sick in smallville!

Acting!Lana: and the answer is? NO!!

BLASST: Uh, the ship _did_ get Martha pregnate the first time.

DIDDLER: Heating up the lube with heat vision; it was too cold for sick Clark.

HUG: The big hug Lex gave Clark when he realzied that Clark was all right and Martha was going to live. And, oh! Baby!

PSHAW: Uh, let's see. Clark and Lex are best friends. When Clark is sick, Lex is by his side, right? He calls, right? He goes over to make sure he's okay, right? What? No?

Lex loves and respects and admires Martha. When she's sick, he's standign with his face pressed against the window, right? He's calling in specialists from Metropolis, right? He's acting like he's WORRIED, right? No.

Bad writers! No biscut.

Additional: Two previously seen only in fanfic
1. Chloe's red VW bug: in "Storm Warning" by C. Roxanne, Chloe saves Lex from the mutant, tire eating volley ball team. She requests a red, VW bug are reward, which she wins two weeks later in a contest. And now, she's driving it on the show.

2. Clark being afraid his parents would disappear. Similar to Clark being afraid that his parents will disappear in my Corner of the World series.

Edited to correct my mistake and give credit to the correct fanfic.

See, I KNEW I missed something really important when I left the room for a few minutes to clean the toilet. Yes, it all makes so much more sense now... *g*

Yeah, see, that must've happened while Mr. Rhi and I were still wiping away our tears (of cruel laughter) over Clark moaning "Lana..." when Chloe confessed her undying love.

Damn tears! Made me miss the GAYLE!

A lot of people seemed to haved walked out during that scene. I found it very strange when I started reading comments on the show, so I thought I'd clearthe air. *g*

And thank goodness you did! It's the "overlooked scene that launched 1000 fics"... heehee

Thanks, hon! *mwah*

Just a quick note...

The fic where Lex gives Chloe the convertible after she saves him from the tire-eating girls volleball team is actually C.Roxanne's "Storm Warning." :) I was totally shouting "fanfic!!" at the screen when she pulled up. What with this and the the scene straight out of Lanning Cook's "Identical" series last week, I'm convinced the PTB are reading the fic.

Speaking of fic, I see that you've finished the next COTW. (yay!) I look forward to seeing it. Send it on over when Fabrisse is done (or wherever I fall in the beta-schedule). :)

Yeah, I know. I've been corrected over at TWOP too. I think the reason I got it wrong is I _really_ have issues with Storm Warning, so I blocked it from my mind. :)

You're right after Fabrisse. I'd send it at the same time, but I always have to change the fic three or four times, so it's just easier.

Thanks, hon!

I'll be waiting!

Yeah, I hear you on Storm Warning, but I still think it's an interesting concept. I'm willing to wade through it to get to Later Days, which, while not without problems of its own, I liked better.

The concept of Storm Warning had me hooked, but the execution and especially the characterization eventually turned me off. I've read Later Days, but that's actually my least fav (if that's the last one) because I felt it was very cobbled together. I coudln't get into it. But, again, that might have been because the characterization turned me off so much. But it was the first Alien!Clark fic, and it was such a great idea.

Nah, the last one was Endless Seas. I don't like that one very much, since she totally changed the POV and the tone, and turned it into an Mpreg. Later Days was the one where they meet up again in Metropolis and Clark eases Lex through Kryptonite withdrawal. What can I say, I'm a sucker for h/c.

I didn't read that one, I don't think. Or, I tried and couldn't get what was going on and gave up. I really don't rememember anymore. Ah well.
