Without Googling (unless it's to refresh your memory): Do you know what Free to Be You and Me is and about how old (child, high school, college, grown up) were you when it came out?
Thanks for the info. I mentioned it to carpool and everyone acted like I was speaking Klingon or something. No one had heard of it (two are older than me and one younger) so I thought maybe it was an age thing. Which it might be.
Take my hand, come with me, where the children are free....
I don't remember seeing the show when it originally aired (which makes sense since I apparently wasn't born yet), but the cassette was a car trip favorite when I was a kid.
I honestly didn't know it was a show until recently, but I grew up with the record. And book. I wanted to have the students sing it in the spring musical, but it doesn't seem like anyone else has heard of it. And, in my experience, when none of the teachers know a song, they're convinced the kids will never ever ever learn it because it's too hard.
I'd have to google to be certain, but I'm pretty sure it was high school. I know I saw it in color and I only had a small black and white TV in college, elementary school seems too young. Yeah, I'm old.
Okay I Googled and I was wrong, it was in college.
One of the women in my carpool was in college, and she'd never heard of it. I was shocked, because a) I thought everyone knew about it and b) she would because it seems like something right up her alley.
