Sometimes, I indulge myself

I like writing fics with female self-inserts. I've done it in Firefly, Harry Potter, SPN and probably others, but I'm exhausted and headachy. I do my best to make them good stories, but mostly, I just write them because I really, really, really want to.

So, a few months ago, I decided to start the Newsie Mary Sue fic I've had in my head since, well, the movie came out. It was... eh. But I had other stuff I wanted to add to it. The other day, while I was supposed to be learning how to teach or something, I started writing more. And thinking more. And, somehow, instead of it mapping out into the typical girl dresses up as a male newsie who ends up falling in love with (and being loved in return by) Spot.... It's kind of turning into a girl who dresses up like a boy for her life, who feels more male than female, and ends up falling in love with Spot, but wants to continue to live as a male because that's who she feels like...

It's a little weird.

And I'm exhausted.

Newsies was an awesome movie back, God; I can't even remember. I was in 7th grade. It's about a bunch of newspaper boys in 1899 who go on strike because they're angry about prices. To show how angry they are, they do a lot of dancing and singing. Their leader is a guy named Jack Kelly, who is played by Batman himself, Christan Bale. There's also a bunch of other very handsome boys who go around singing and dancing, so the fandom has a lot of slash (which I've never read) and a lot of Mary Sues (pretty much all girls who dressed up like guys and fall in love with one of two characters: Spot or Racetrack). Don't let the fact that this is the biggest musical flop in the history of anything fool you; this movie is 100% fantastic crack.

Opening Song
Racetrack is the guy doing the narration and who has the first line in the song. He's from Doogie Howser.

Spot This is Spot Conlon, the newsie in charge of Brooklyn. He's the guy my transgender character will end up with. Now that I'm almost 30, I should feel like a dirty all woman because every time I see him, I blush and get giggly. But, I still feel like I'm 13 when I watch the movie, so... whatever. :)
