I'm mostly going to refrain on commenting on things. Partly because I don't wanna and partly becuase I'm better able to comment on stuff after I've seen it twice.
But, during the marriage scene, when Will asked Elizabeth what her choice was, and she turned and screamed, "Barbossa!" There was this sick, twisted little part of me that thought she was choosing Barbossa. Because, dude. Talk about a power couple.
Also, I don't believe the Flying Dutchman-curse thing says that the wife/woman has to stay wherever she is for the full 10 years, just that she be there when her love gets back. So, obviously, Elizabeth was out pirating and such all those years (she is the pirate king, after all), but nipped back to meet her husband (and, as the rumors are circulating, break the curse and bring him home). So, I'm fine with it. She wasn't waiting. She was living.
It seems like there was something funny I was going to say, but I can't remember what it was.
I'm going crazy over this stupid Norrington-Jack-baby!fic. I *know* that I started writing the next scene. I remember writing it, very vividly. But I can't find it anywhere. However, i did find the beginning of a scene that I don't remember writing, but has what is now one of my favorites lines ever in it:
In this scene, Gavin is about 3 or 4 years old. He and Mariah are at the docks so Gavin can see the ship. He dropped his doll and ran back for it.
But he'd only run a few feet back, to where his doll was lying in a puddle.
Mariah sighed and shook her head, a smile tugging at her lips. He'd had the rag doll since he was a mere babe in the cradle, made for him by his ever doting--and self-proclaimed--"Papa". The doll had been made of bits of clothing and stuffing that Jack had picked up from who knew where--although Mariah recognized bits of James's cloths in the doll, thus solving the great, "Who on God's green Earth is stealing my *sleeves*?" debacle--and accessorized in true Jack Sparrow style with bits of gold and beads and many other things that could get lodged in Gavin's throat and choke him to death.
I should have a list or something of all my favorite lines from my fics. Because I am that vain.

You know, while we're on the topic of favourite lines from your fics, I only got one of the questions in my English class right today because Cellie was on my mind for some reason. (It was like lightning round questions, answering off the top of our heads.) And just because of Incarceration is supposed to serve two purposes. One is to rehabilitate. The other is to punish.
Just thought I'd tell you. Thank you for helping with my education :p
Hope you're feeling better soon :o)

Date: 2007-05-29 01:23 am (UTC)See? Slash teaches you things.
(Actually, once a teenage boy found my fics by googling 'what is it like to be in love' or something close and was led to one of my SV fics. He e-mailed me for advice, which I am completely unqualified to give. But, again, it was sorta edumacation.)

Date: 2007-05-29 12:58 pm (UTC)Oh, reading slash fic has taught me a *lot* of things. They just might not be useful to anything in my everyday life (not that knowing basically the entire text of The Shawshank Redemption is any help to everyday life -- that's what the answer was for FYI). It's just fun.

See, as cruel as it sounds, that makes me laugh. Someone googled the internet to find out?? Aw... it was kind (?) of him to ask you though :p

For the first time in ages I'm actually considering writing fic again. Damn these pirates for putting plot bunnies in my head! I'm not a slash-writer, though. Reader, sometimes, but I mostly write gen and het with some trios here and there for fun. But the nice thing about fandom is that there's something there for everyone.

Date: 2007-05-29 01:28 am (UTC)About ten years ago, I wrote a pirate novel where the main character (a woman) pirated while pregnant up to about her fifth or sixth month. I've been taken with the idea ever since. It's not realistic, but I like it.
I do think, even if she wasn't on the actual ship, she still got to command her crew, even if it was by land. Or not. I don't know. She was so much like Jack (only not insane) that I have a hard time not seeing her continuing some kind of free if slightly illegal life.

I started out writing threesomes in this fandom (Jack/Will/Elizabeth). But I'm primarily a slash writer, and I loved the dynamic between Jack and Norrington that I had to give it a try. But, yes, this is quite a fruitful fandom for different pairings.
oh, the cute!
