Even if you write a Supernatural fic and say that the boys aren't brothers? That doesn't change the fact that, on the show, they are brothers and you are, in actuality, writing Wincest.

I honestly don't get the level of self-delusion that goes in with writing brother slash but saying that you're not.

I think I'm getting sick.

Seriously. I get not being into the Wincest. But then write gen. Or RPS. Or find a new fandom!

Also, I'm getting sick too.

Blah!

I guess you could AU the hell out of it, make it turn out that Dean's actually the child of the irresponsible teenaged sibling of one of Sam's parents. In canon, Dean's biological parents gave him up for adoption to Sam's parents, and in the AU the teen sib got hir act together enough to keep Dean/get Dean back before Sam was born.

Thus, biologically and in every other way that counts, Dean and Sam would be first cousins, rather than brothers.

That's not what this person is doing, and I honestly don't see how one could write SN slash without admitting that what they are doing, down at the bottom, is writing incest. Maybe for a one shot AU or something, but for the entire basis of your fic writing experience in the fandom is to say, "In this fic, they aren't brothers" is really deinalist.

And, now I want to read a fic like that.

I don't mind either way, as long as there's good nummy slash between them ;). And I kinda like the AU's, it might be self-delusional, but whatever floats their boat *shrugs*

Dude, seriously. At least in my mind, Dean's character hinges a lot on his views on family and of Sam as part of that family. Sam and Dean's characters hinge on how they were raised by Daddy Winchester, by the perception of the death of their mother, by the way they were raised to protect each other at all cost, and so by taking one or the other out, you change the whole dynamic. If that's the way the author does it, fine, but they need to recognize that it'd drastically change the way the two characters relate and view the universe.

If they choose to do the "one's adopted! it's not incest!".... uh, yeah. If they were raised together as brothers, with the perception that they were brothers? Fuck genetics. They're brothers.

And now I have wanked. Yeesh.

*is amused*

In fact, even if there was a logic in the fic to get around the fact of biological relation...they still *think* of themselves as brothers.
