I feel dumb

This has probably been discussed elsewhere, but:

The Chitauri recruit Loki (though some kind of dubious methods, 'cause the boy looks like crap).
Loki goes around preaching that freedom (ie independent thought) is a burden and he's there to free the human race from having to rule themselves.
The Chitauri are a hive mind and, once the 'queen' (or whatever) is killed, the drones die.

I'm thinking that Loki's grandiose speeches were meant to be clues as to how to defeat the Chitauri. I mean, I know the holes in Loki's plan have been poked and prodded at in other places, but I somehow missed that. If I'm right
