I am so bored. And a little depressed. I'm not used to getting next to know feedback for fic I write. *sigh* Well, I'm doing another once over on the Lost fic "Bug" and then post it to the communities. The only problem is that the few people who seem interested in Jack/Boone are convinced that Jack's straight, and I don't see it like that. At least not for my series. I hate having to battle preconceptions like that.

Ah well.

Okay, I almost left feedback for your revision of your second (?) Jack/Boone fic, but I couldn't put into words what I wanted to say. I was simply blown away. Yours is some of the best Lost fic I've read, mostly because I haven't seen much in Boone's "voice" and you do it so perfectly.

I get the Jack thing because he's really kind of asexual right now. Doesn't really seem that interested in anyone, although I'm sure the show's gonna be moving him in Kate's direction sooner rather than later. So, yeah, why couldn't he be gay? Especially when the writing is as convincing as yours is.

Anyways, I just wanted you to know that I have no preconceptions about Jack (or anyone, although I'd hoped Dom's character would be gayer) and I'm loving this series. You've really got something here.

I guess I'm just kind of against the "straight until proven otherwise" thing. Plus, I woudln't want the sense of tension in every story to be gay!Boone is attracted to straight!Jack and that somehow screws with their dynamic. It works, and "making do" by Yahtzee was fantastic, but I've seen at least two more calls for fics taht go along the same premise, and taht I don't understand. Why not have two gay guys with tension coming from somewhere else? Or even ahve Boone straight (just because he's pretty, dont' make him gay) and Jack gay. Or something besides, well, the obvious?

Anyway, we'll see how things go. Maybe it'll go my way. :P

Exactly. I think the majority of all fic, in all the fandoms that I read, include one gay/bi man and one who is straight until he meets the gay/bi guy and his eyes are opened. I love that dynamic. But I read it everywhere. This way Jack and Boone are put on equal footing in their relationship. Plus, there's plenty of tension on the island already, yeah?

I do, too, but conditionally. I loved it in SV becuase Clark was so young when he and Lex met. I liked it the other way, too, but only if it was really well done. It's a nice genre, but, especially with Lost, there's enough tension and story-telling possiblities that I'd rather not read a bunch of fics that explore that angle. I've read one, I really liked it, and now it's time to move on. :)

I've only caught a few episodes of "Lost" and each time I tune in, I never see Ian. But I can't see people NOT getting Jack and Boone. I mean, LOOK AT THEM? They're stuck on an island, they're men. I mean, things happen ;)

There's a *lot* of Boone-hate over on TWOP. And a lot of people started watchign the show for Dominic Monaghan, and then Sayid and Sawyer are sexy, so most of the attention is going to tehm. Plus, Jack is a sort of flat character. I don't find the actor all that attractive, but I do like his dynamic with Boone, so he's who I want to write.

Hmm, I didn't know that there's Boone-hate. That's odd. I would at least think the SV fans would like Ian in this role. And as for Dom, Sayid and Sawyer being sexy--I don't see *that*.

Well, I can understand the Sayid thing; I find him sexy. And I even understand Sawyer, although he's primarily a jerk, he does have a nice smile. The Boone-dislike comes from the fact al ot of people think he's a liar and a theif and that "there's something not right with that boy." So, there you are. Until we actually fin dout his backstory, we won't know what his deal is and, even then, people probably still won't like him.
