*bangs head on desk repeatedly*
Jul. 22nd, 2004 10:36 pmOkay, normally I get really snitty when someone decides to pull all their fic and whatnot off the internet in a fit of pique (especially when it's someone who *must* be told if you're going to even recommend their fic to someone else, and works very hard trying to trick the reader, and pulls all her fic off because people were, *gasp* talking about it and *doublegasp*, giving away spoilers), and figure that if people pass their fic around behind their back, HA HA.
BUT ...
Must *every* *single* *new* person on the mailing list request for the said fic to be sent to them ON THE FRICKING LIST?????
I'm really tempted to track the author down and tell her what's going on, just to see if she'll go ballistic.
No, I'm not a trouble maker. Not at all. But, no offense or anything, but the IQ level on list seems to be droppign dramatically as of late.
Oh. And send me feedback for COTW 46. NOW!
(*kisses* Love you all. ;)

Date: 2004-07-23 09:55 am (UTC)I like how you worked such a terrible episode into your series and made it not only fit, but fit perfectly and work extremely well with your characterization of Lana and her ongoing story arc.
Let's just hope I'm as successful with the erst of the terrible episodes in this season. I just rewatched all of S2 and it's just so painful, I almost don't want to watch them ever again. :)
Thanks for feedbacking me and indulging my childish impulses. :)

Date: 2004-07-23 06:27 pm (UTC)I just got the list e-mail where she does indeed go ballistic.
Since I'm rather new to the whole fandom realm, what exactly is the nettiquette on re-posting fic?
As irritating as the 20+ "me too" e-mails were, I feel rather bad for the poster who offered to re-post the story--- a barrage of e-mail requests and now an irate author... no good deed goes left unpunished, eh?

Date: 2004-07-23 06:41 pm (UTC)And I've seen other people do that too; last year, an author pulled all her work off line and when peopel started sending her fic around, she requested they stop.
As for nettiquette ... I'm not sure there's a one-size fits all answer. I think that, in general, if an author pulls his/her stuff offline, people are supposed to respect the fact they don't want it read anymore and not repost it. in the old days, most people woudl put a "don't repost or archive without permission" in the heading of their fics. If they didn't, it was okay, but even then, you usually told them. Personally? I think that if you want pass the fic along to a friend or two, it's okay, but doing it en-masse like that, especially when it's expressley against the author's wishes, is just rude.
And, honestly? I really dislike that fic and it gets talked up a whole lot. So there was some jealousy working into the general annoyance of the multiple posts and the nagging issue of the author not wanting that to happen. ;)

Date: 2004-07-23 07:03 pm (UTC)I absolutely loved this part. The only thing is, I wanna see more Damien! Please???? I miss him. He barely got a mention in this one. :-)
*smooch*
Otherwise, I still think the phone scene is brilliant. Man, that's good work. You get their awkwardness across so well. It's so beautiful.

Date: 2004-07-23 07:10 pm (UTC)The problem will be keeping Dom from telling Damien about you-know-what. Although, it might work out better than I'd orginally planned.
