I highly enjoyed this episode. It had my heart going and kept my interest the entire way through. Clark seems so ... grown lately, and this episode seemed to highlight that. Even though he jumped to conclusions about Lex's involvement with the FBI (understandably, I feel), he stuck around to listen to the truth before rushing off to accuse his next victim. He was so incredibly sweet with Jonathan at the cemetary, and his interactions with Lionel were outstanding.
Oh. And he ripped Lex's shirt off, which was just fun. :)
I'm growing more and more interested in Jonathan and Jor-El's deal. Right now, I'm assuming that Jor-El will take over *someone's* body. It's probably supposed to be Jonathan, but it would be really interesting if there's some accident and it gets into Lionel instead. Then Jor-El will try to take over the world through Lionel, and Clark and Lex will have to kill him, and then Lex will never be able to forgive himself and, thus, turn against Clark.
As I said before, Kristen was on tonight. I did feel her last scene with Clark ground the epsiode to a stunning halt. Not because of acting (both of them were fine), but because I was still rolling off my high of the Jonathan/Lionel fight and wanted to see that conclusion/coda thing. I didn't really need to see the SAME Clark/Lana scene I've been seeign for the past 2 years.
I really loved the Lana/Lex scene. There wasn't any sort of sexual tension that I could discern, but the chemistry between them, and the way Kristen just owned her half of the scene. Wow.
Oh, and I *loved* Clark's line about not being human to Swann. The emotion with which he said it was something I've been looking for; that regret and anger and frustration and fear. It was lovely.
As for the end, and the whole key thing, I only have the following thing to say: WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON??????
(But, no spoilers, please.)

And yes, when the credits rolled I just sat there going Who? What? Why? When? HU??????

Date: 2004-04-15 11:27 am (UTC)What I loved about it was the fact that Lionel, who we now *know* was probably the thuggiest street thug whoever thugged, was finally revealed for exactly what he is: a low down, dirty street urchin who fights really dirty.
I totally expected Bo to die and Jor-El to jump into Lionel's body. I'm both disappointed and relieved it didn't happen.
I SERIOUSLY think Lex manipulated Lana into dumping Clark.'
Although I'm sure he has some dark ulterior motive as directed by the writers, I just think he's sick of seeing them both go through the same thing over and over and *that's* why he said what he did. I know I would.
And yes, when the credits rolled I just sat there going Who? What? Why? When? HU??????
Yeah. It's all very confusing. And wonderful. :)

Date: 2004-04-16 05:34 pm (UTC)You know what? You're smarter than I am. I watched Lionel Luthor fighting back and thought "Millionaire manipulative corporate pirate can take on BO DUKE?? I don't THINK so. Not that Bo is a bad guy, but he's a strapping farmer's kid who ceratinly punched a few people in his time, once more, he's defending his farmer family." I thought it was WAY silly.
But, then again, Lionel IS a dirty street urchin who pulled himself up by the bootstraps, but sure as hell knows how to defend his life if he has to.
Wow.
