COTW 43: On the Wall

I've decided to give up subbing and live off the profits I make from fanfiction. Since that is the case, after you finish reading this fic, contact me so I can explain how to get the money to me. I just want a small donation, enough to keep my sanity and allow me to continue making about $95 a day. :)

Title:Corner of the World 43: On the Wall

Notes: This takes place during "Skinwalkers". Thanks to fabrisse, mlleelizabeth, and lady_alys for the wonderful beta work.
Summary: Clark's destiny is written on the walls.


Lex grinned and scribbled furiously on the document in front of him. Then he glanced up. "Hey. Come on in." Then he lowered his head once more.

"I don't want to interrupt."

"I'm almost done." He wrote a few things more, and the wiped the nib of the pen on his already ink-stained hand. A few more bars of the song escaped his throat as he wrote a little more, and then that grin spread across his face again, lighting his eyes, and he tossed the pen down. "Done."

Clark couldn't help but smile back. Lex looked so happy. "With what?"

"My new fertilizer. It's done. I had a breakthrough today, and figured out the formula. We start testing next week."

"Congratulations." Clark went to him and pulled Lex out of his seat. "I knew you could do it," he whispered as he kissed Lex deeply.

Lex moaned in his throat and grasped Clark's arms. "Christ," he gasped when they broke apart. He kissed Clark back fiercely, tongue probing in Clark's mouth, twining around his own. "Remind me to have breakthroughs more often." He pushed Clark onto the desk.

Clark sat, wrapping his arms around Lex's waist. He kissed and licked along Lex's neck, biting his lips gently as his hands massaged up Lex's spine. This was right. This was what he wanted, who he wanted. Everything had been wrong while kissing Kyla. She smelled wrong and tasted wrong. Her mouth didn't fit right, and her body was too small in his arms.

Lex, though. Lex had been made for him. He fit perfectly against Clark, and in his hands and it was just *right*.

I just finished reading and once again you did a wonderful job.

On the last chapter I was so glad when you linked Helen to Dominic's past instead of Lex that I didn't worry about her. All I did in this chapter was worry.

I must confess that after Shattered/Asylum I have become a wuss when it comes to seeing Lex hurt and Helen is, for me, the beginning of Lex's season in Hell.

All I kept seeing was the ways Lex was vulnerable to Helen, Demian the Gatekeeper is too weak, by giving Mark a chance after Lionel's offer Lex might feel the need to give Helen the same, with the reporter around, Clark feeling depressed (specially if you decide to follow Canon with Whitney), the whole Numan/Zeget rivalry and Lionel breathing, by the end of the chapter I was a mess.

Hopefully, this time Clark would be there to make sure Helen doesn't do too much damage (*pleasepleaseplease*)

Hi there, I just wanted to say how much I enjoy your fic. I've read CotW a couple of times through now and look forward eagerly to each new part! I loved the recent Ace Reporter fic too. It was interesting to first follow it as a WiP, and then read the final draft, where slight changes made an already good fic even better! (Hope you don't mind if I friend you too)

Is Lex going to have a major forehead-slapping moment of realization about Mr. Font? When Mark mentioned that he thought Lionel was getting info from Mr. Font, Lex was so busy being suspicious of Mark that he seemed to gloss right over the counselor/client confidentiality issue.

I've been thinking of Font as just an annoyance; now I realize he's potentially dangerous. I'm just wondering when that possibility will occur to Lex.

That's a good question, and one I have absolutely no answer to. I tend not to plan a lot of the things that happen in the series. Things like that get mentioned for reasons I don't exactly know and then, a few fics later, I realize that the line or whatever was vitally important to a part of the plot that I just thought of. So it'll most likely come up again, but I'm really not sure when it will.
