I watched it, and it was okay. Not as good as I'd hoped, either as a future-ific show or a courtroom drama. Part of this, I think, is due to the characters. None of them, not even Ioan Grufford, for whom I mainly watched the show, is a very strong character. Ioan (what was his name? Lucas) Lucas interests me simply because he wasn't what I expected. At first, I thought he was going to be a brash, cocky, uncaring lawyer out for the money or glory or whatever. I was pleasantly surprised to find he cared about things. I like that, and I'll tune in next week (Saturday?) to see how he is with Bionic Eye guy.

The rest of the characters ... meh. I love Hector Elizando (?) usually; I think he's definitely a SOM (sexy older man) who deserves worship. He fell flat in this. The blonde girl's personality wasn't compelling enough to make me care. It's an idea that's been done to death anyway, but in the hands of a competent writer/actor, it could still have some oomph.

I did love the old boy band. That was cute, but I was over it after the first couple scenes.

The clone story line intrigued me, simply because cloning, even body parts, is one of those issues where I don't know where I stand. In this case, it was easy for me. My sympathies were with the father/brother trying to save his child/brother. There was a living person in this case, and, for me, it's easier to be kind and accepting when I've got a face to the issue.

However, in the abstract .... I just don't know. One the one hand, yeah, if we have the ability to save lives, let's clone body parts to do it. I have no problem with halting the growth of a cluster of cells/embryo for body parts because I'm in the "potential life" camp, I guess. If the pregnancy/result is wanted, don't mess with it. If it's not, and it's early enough, abortion or, in this case, alternative methods of use don't seem ethically wrong to me.

My problems come with playing God. When do we stop? We're overpopulated as it is, and sometimes I just think we're doing too much to extend life and adding to the trouble. We all have the right to life, but when we're stacked on top of each other, using resources, using technology to fight to the bitter end .... I don't' want to say it's wrong, but sometimes, it bothers me. And cloning is one of those things that bothers me. I don't know if we as a human race are really mature enough to deal with it. There's too much inequality and corruption, etc. going on as it is. I'd rather take care of some of that stuff, and the environment, and poverty before having cloned hearts available.

Or, maybe I wouldn't. If it was my parents, or sister, or even me, I'd probably be first in line. Hell, show me a person with the need, and my mind would probably change and I'd be all for it. But abstractly .... I get uncomfortable.

Off to the 4th grade today. Wish me luck.

I totally agree with your thoughts on the cloning issues brought up. Can I link to it?

I think that the show has promise, but it's gonna have to work to keep me watching. I'm used to my shows starting wih a bit of a bang of some sort and this one kind of didn't, so....

We'll see.

Good luck with them. Want some duct tape?

Um, sure.

I think that the show has promise, but it's gonna have to work to keep me watching.

Definitely. It's too ... mundane right now, and started with a yawn. They really need to work to sell the premise better. Why should I watch their show when there are better written shows exactly like it, only set present day? They didn't explain that to me. :)

I know. Not that I usually watch the shows either way. I think Hector Elonzido's character could be cool, since he remembers things before everything got so hi-tech. Hopefully they'll develop that more.
