Things that make you go hmmm....
Feb. 24th, 2004 07:08 amSo. Uh. Clark falls and slams to the ground flat on his back. We know he's not hurt. But would the impact still force the air from his lungs and make him breathless, even for a second?
Also, why do people keep insisting that Lana going alone into Adam's apartment at what appears to be night to snoop illegally through his personal belongings is a perfectly rational reaction to be threatened? I mean, seems to me that if someone threatens you, the last place you'd want to be is all *alone* in his apartment during a power failure (or whatever was going on). But I guess that's just me.

Date: 2004-02-25 04:01 am (UTC)Lana = insane. Even if she was counting on her martial art skills to save her, she's forgetting an important fact: Adam can beat her. He's done it once. He'll do it again.
I'm glad to know i"m not the only one who feels like this, though. :)

Date: 2004-02-24 04:01 pm (UTC)As far as Lana...that was a nutty decision on her part. I'm not sure it was illegal, though. We know that Adam signed a lease bc he was all up in her face over tenant laws. But it's a common clause on apt leases that the landlord has the right to enter any residence at will, without notice, at any time. They typically *don't* unless it's an emergency, but the power to do so is still in the lease.

Hmmm ... You must be signing some wonky clauses there. Because everyone else I've talked to has said that a landlord has to alert the tenant at least 24 hours in advance before entering, unless there's an emergency or, I'd assume, mitigating factors (bad smell, noise complaints, etc). Otherwise, you're giving permission for people to enter your place of residence at two in the morning or whenever you're not there, and there's nothing you can do about it.
As for it not being illegal, of course it was. Even if Lana can legally enter the premises without permission or warning, she can't go through his belongings. She owns the room his desk is in, not the desk or the contents. He could totally press charges for invasion of privacy.

Date: 2004-02-25 04:16 am (UTC)This is what the last person to defend Lana said in [Unknown site tag]
He's renting an apartment right where she spends most of her time, where she spends many hours ALONE at night. For a woman that's been attacked before, she has every reason to freak when he started threatening her. It may not be "right" to snoop, but I understand it completely.
So maybe she didn't say it was rational, but she understands because putting yourself in danger of being attacked is an understandable response to being threatened.
Excuse me while I bang my head against a wall.

Date: 2004-02-25 01:13 pm (UTC)I think their argument supports the Lana is a self centered bitch theory more, because obviously she enjoys being stalked, attacked and otherwise the center of attention or she would not be purposely putting herself in Adam's way.

Date: 2004-02-25 04:20 am (UTC)Exactly. It drove me insane the moment she started demanded to know every one of Adam's secrets. Even if they were things she deserved to know, she has all the subtlety of an ox.

Date: 2004-02-24 07:52 pm (UTC)I find Lana's actions bizarre. There is no way she could justify being in Adam's apartment, especially not if he was actually leasing it form her. When he has already threatened her, it's plain stupid for her to be there.
What is really odd, though, is that she was so upset when she opened up the apartment. She started tossing stuff around immediately and was really careless with things. Not the actions of someone who intends to leave no trace that they were there. Makes a girl wonder what had happened just before that.

Date: 2004-02-25 04:47 am (UTC)Oh, damn. I forgot about that.
I wish she would, you know, mention it occasionally. How the hell am I supposed to keep track of these things if they only mention it once?

Date: 2004-02-25 02:13 am (UTC)Nuts or not, Lana could (again) have landed herself in jail with that stunt, no matter what her reason--yes, even up to and including a direct death threat. Go to the police and express her concerns, yes. Enter a rentor's home for the purpose of riffling through their possessions? In the US at least, I'd have her in jail and/or in court so fast it'd make her head spin. Right to privacy is one of the biggies.
