I totally screwed up the timeline in the early parts of COTW. I thought Jonathan and Martha's anniversary was before Christmas, so I wrote it as such. It's not; the episode aired afterwards, and now I don't know what to do. If I go with what I wrote, then I have to squish "Skinwalkers" and "Visage" into about three weeks (actually, less). If I just pretend that I didn't mess up, and follow the show's "continunity" (heh), then I can stretch it out, but then I'm being untrue to my fics.

I have no idea what to do. Espeically since i highly suspect that "Skinwalkers" (is is walkers or walker? I wrote it on the tape as on and usually think of it as another) was supposed to be set during Winter Break on the show.

*sigh* So hard. Don't know what to do. *bangs head on keyboard*

Nope. Didn't help.

Honestly, I'd go with what you have already in there. It's an AU that moves along with the series timeline, and it's a continually evolving one, so you're going to probably have dilemmas like this that pop up from time to time. We get jossed, but most of your readers aren't going to care. It'll just be something that you know, and if you can live with it, then I wouldn't worry about someone calling you on it.

Also, it's Skinwalker, singular.

Oh! And it occurs to me that this kind of question is perfectly acceptable for input/discussion on [livejournal.com profile] smallville_au, if you'd like to hear from the actual fans of AUs.

The problem isn't so much the readers, it's not being able to fit everything within the time frame I have. It's actually going to be something like 3 episodes within 3 weeks (Skinwalker,Visage, and Insurgence). There's not enough time to set everything up.

I never said a date for the Kent's anniversary, so I can fudge. But i'm still basically screwed in my timeline no matter what I do. And no one may call me on it, but I know.

Also, it's Skinwalker, singular.

That's what I originally thought. Thanks!

I don't remember exactly what you wrote in the earlier installments of COTW, but if you didn't refer to it as their wedding anniversary, could you possibly consider that the anniversary of their first date (which I think probably did occur in the Fall)?

Mmm hmm, I totally agree. Most couples have more than one anniversary.

Why not have them celebrate two anniversaries? That's what my folks do. The one in March is their wedding anniversary, the one in August is their (more important to them) moving in together anniversary.

Jitters ran before Christmas. TIIC screwed up by putting Insurgence, which also had their anniversary, over a month later the next year.

I KNEW it did!!!!!!! When they aired Insurgance, i said they'd fucked up, but someone told me that I was wrong. Somehow, when I looked on my tape, I guess I read it aws 1/12 instead of 12/11 or something.

I feel a lot better now. Thank you!!!
