Any suggestions?

For Historical AU Pirate fic: Alexander, Alex, or Lex? I can't decided. I wrote the fic using the name Lex, but now I'm thinking that it doesn't give the fic a 'historical' enough feeling. So, does anyone have any advice?

I prefer Lex. I know this is absurd, but I have a really hard time reading stories where they call him Alex. I always picture Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties. So, uh, Alexander or Lex, imo.

Sandy is a traditionally British nickname for Alexander.

I can only think of one Sandy off the top of my head (though I'm sure I know more); if you've ever seen the Flambards series with Christine McKenna, after they elope and Will gets the job as an airplane mechanic, the other mechanic is a Sandy.
