1. okay, you asked it first: historical accuracy or hotness? which, in your opinion, is more important?

I'm really not sure. When I've read historical romance novels, I've never minded that the sex seemed, well … modern. Then again, I don't exactly read historical romance for accurately portrayed sex. *g* As for me … a little of both, I think. I don't really want to have the boys do something that wasn't commonly done at the time and have them (at least Lex) seem like a pro. The trouble is, I don't know what was and wasn't done or where to look. Take blow jobs; when did they begin? Are they as old as time, or were they "introduced" during some age and caught on? But, on the other hand, do I care? I mean, to me it's always seemed natural that to, ah, touch things with your mouth (or put things in your mouth). Or what about French kissing? I read a book once where the woman decided to try and kiss in the 'new French way.' My fic is set after the book (it was the "Secret Diary of Anne Boylen"), but had it caught on? But can *I* write kissing without tongue? (No, not really. It seems boring, and that's where the hotness factor wins).

So, I guess as long as the guys aren't reaching for bottles of lube or condoms, I'm okay with some historical inaccuracy. In fanfiction. In real novels, it depends on the novel. But, in order to continue to get the feeling that this is set in the past, some level of accuracy is desired.

2. looking back, what age would you want to revert back to, given a chance?

Do you mean a physical age (like, 5) or a historical age (like the Restoration).

So, uh … I guess I'd like to be 10 again. I don’t remember what I was like when I was 10, but it's always seemed like it should be the best age. You're still a kid, not a lot of responsibilities, and life is pretty good. If not 10, then 14, which should suck because of out of control hormones, but I had a good time of it.

If you mean historical age, then, since I'm in the mindset right now, the Golden Age of Piracy, but only if I got to be a pirate.

3. what historical figure would you want as your boyfriend (and i'm removing past movie stars and music stars as possible choices {eg}).

Hmm … After I saw "The Young Indiana Jones and the Attack of the Hawkmen", I really liked the Red Baron for awhile. And after I saw "Tombstone", it was all about Doc Holliday. So, even though the first guy was our enemy, and the second guy was bad news, I'd say one of them, I guess.

4. if you could be at *one* historical moment, just to experience it, what would it be?

I would have liked to be with Amelia Earhart the first time she flew across the Atlantic.

5. where do you see yourself 20 years from now?

In 20 years I'll be 44. So, I suspect I'll still be teaching. Hopefully, I'll have finished at least one novel and had it rejected at least 150 times. I'll have a self-published book of poetry. I'll have adopted at least 1 child. Maybe I'll be married, but at the very least I would like to be in a relationship with someone (male or female) and maybe living with them. I think I'd like to be living in Monterey or Santa Cruz, but I want to live in my water tower, so I guess I'll have to make enough money to have it moved up north with me. I want to be a regular surfer, go hiking or biking every week either with my kid or by myself. I want to have done something great for education. I want to be financially secure, and know how to cook and have people to cook for.

That was fun. Thanks [livejournal.com profile] dameange! Anyone else? :)
