I love Rachel Maddow, but this is the second time (that I've seen) where her show knocked EuroVision. And it bugs me. I don't what EuroVision or have any love for it (in fact, it always bugs me 'cause it preempts Dr. Who for a week). But, Rachel obviously doesn't watch it either, so... her making fun of it comes of (to me) as a kind of... smug American kind of laughing down her nose at the silly stuff "all those Europeans care about." And maybe that's not the way she means it, and maybe she talks about American Idol the same way (I honestly don't know), but it feels different. I can't explain why.
Also, calling Riverdance "those poor Irish dancers who can't move their arms" kind of ignores that... isn't that how traditional Irish dancing is done? Riverdance didn't invent it, right? So, that's culturally insensitive, too.
Or, maybe I'm just being oversensitive. I am on my period and my cats are crying and growling at each other, so I'm extra irritable.
