I kinda am tempted to write a Beauty and the Beast. I had two ideas for it. Actually, no, one idea. I had this image of a girl standing over a graveyard and I started thinking about what would happen if the Beast wasn't able to break the spell the first time. So he began to invite girls from a nearby village to live with him onc every thirty years or so (I'm not sure on the timing; once every generation). Anyway, in the original story, Beauty is on her way to the castle, afraid, In the enchanted forest, she comes across another girl who's traveling to the sea to take a job as a maid. Beauty is so upset and frightened about going to the Beast's castle, even for one or two years, that she and the other girl (whose tentative name was Sprout) trade places. The Beast knows, of course, but allows SProut to prentd to be Beauty (at first because she's malnourised and near death but then because they fall in love). A t one point, she finds the cemetary or whatever where the Beast has put memorials up for the other girls (haven't decided on how many yet).

Anyway, that was m basic idea, but both times I described it to someone,they thought I was going to say the Beast wasnt' falling in love with any girl because he was gay and eventually fell in love with a boy. My brother seemed somewhat disappointed when it wasn't.

So... now I kind of want to write that story instead. A gay Beast. Definitely different.

In other rambling, has anyone ver seen the movie Intersate 60? It's with James Marsden and Gary Oldman, where Gary Oldman is an American mythological figure (who isn't well known yet beause we're too young a country) who grants people one wish. James Marsden is a college grad looking for an answer, which he finds on the imaginary highway of interstate 60. It reminded me a bit of American Gods, even though it was completely different. I enjoyed it and recommend it to someone looking for a lighthearted fun little distraction.
