Dude, I need a massage
Jul. 25th, 2005 10:24 amNo, really. I can't lean my neck over to the left without pain, and my back is stiff. I really, really need a massage. I've never had one, but I think it'd make me feel better, esp. since my sister and I are planning on camping out in New Orleans Square tonight to get a good seat for Fantasmic.
I did see an ad in the paper the other day for a place. Maybe I should try that. You know; if I wasn't nervous.
I started watching "The Mutiny" last night (Horatio Hornblower). I now feel disloyal since I've cast Jamie Bamber (Archie) as Grant now, but his character still bugs me. No, that's not even it; I *like* Archie, I do. He's cute and whimsical and a good counterpoint for Horatio.
And yet... he just seems so out of place. I keep trying to think of how to describe him, and the nearest I can think is he's like an OC that someone is trying to integrate into the script and not being able to pull it quite off. I realize he's serving an important purpose, and I belive it's to make Horatio more accessible to the audience. Although Ioan Gruffudd does an excellent job at giving Horatio a depth and emotional life that was hard to get through the books (IMO), having Archie there to act as a sounding board and for him to have a reason to cast significant looks (whereas I think, in the books, he was generally rather stonefaced since he was laregly alone before he and Bush finally connected) gives the audience an 'in'. And Mutiny and Retribution really acts as a transitional piece where that duty is passed from Archi to Bush, and its handled quite well.
And yet, there's still this part of me that gets fixated on "Archie shouldn't be here" and "All the boy does is die."
But, he and Horatio are obviously very much in love. And maybe I resent that a little bit, too, since I always thought the bond between Horatio and Bush (which was more well developed in the books than Archie/Horatio) was so beautiful and perfect.
Anyway. The long and short of it is I now have to watch BSG since Jamie Bamber apparently is on it. I've missed season 1 and the beginning of this season, but I'll figure it out (maybe)
