I lost everything on my computer. All my music, all my files, all my pictures. Everything.

I'm still not exactly sure what happened, only I was online, the computer freaked out, I shut it down and somehow ended up restoring to factory settings. Once I realized what it was doing, I didn't know how to stop it.

I'm already sick and now this. Fuck my life.

Maybe the folders are hidden. That happened to me once. I went into Control Panel/Folder Options and made sure that I could view Hidden folders. Once I clicked that all of my files reappeared in Hidden view and then I had to go back and make them viewable again.

There's also a recovery program(I have to find it on my home PC) that restores everything.

I hope you can recover your files.

The computer restored itself to the factory settings. According to it, the first time it's been starting was today.

Oh no! I looked online and some forums say there's nothing you can do, and some say you might be able to recover some of it. The latter all say not to do anything else to the computer before attempting recovery. Maybe you can call a computer repair place and ask if there's anything you can do? The worst they do is say no. *big hug*

Aw man :-( I am so sorry that happened hon! Do you have any backups? Maybe you can call some IT experts, I heard it is possible to recover deleted files (because technically the file is not gone, the computer just can't find it)

If you have any good computer repair places near you call them! a lot of times they can retrieve files on you drive even after its been erased. Dont know how much it costs tho. I hope you didnt actully lose everything & you can find a way to get the picts & music & files back!
