serafina20It's been years since I've seen the movie Contact, and I don't know if I've ever seen it all the way through. I just finished the book and the movie is on SyFy right now, so I'm checking in (I will not watch it all the way, though).
Anyway, I'm not usually one to say that sex cheapens a relationship or whatever, but, fuck, the movie totally blew the wonderfully deep, spiritual, and strangely romantic understanding between Ellie and Palmer Joss by having them sleep together. I must preferred what was in the book.
Also, they blew it by casting Matthew McConaughey, but that's just my personal opinion. (Wouldn't William Fitchner have been a better Palmer Joss than the character he played?)
