The Browncoats are having a contest... or something where you can write a song for one of the characters, like Jayne has in Jaynestown. Mine is about Mal and, well. It's not exactly an original, but I'm more Weird Al than Jewel.



Mal, A Great Captain-y Guy

A long, long time ago
On a planet far away
Serenity Valley was under an attack
And Mal thought it'd be a good idea
to take his rebel army there
and stop the stupid Alliance in their tracks

But the Alliance army, they were mean
they killed the good guys
Wiped them clean
Dead guys in the valley
Mal couldn't make them rally.

He was taken from the scene
and he mourned his broken dream
But then he found a crowning queen
That day he found his ship

Oh my, my this here captin-y guy
Maybe lost a little battle, but found a ship he could fly
He left the Core and "kissed" the bad guys goodbye
Sayin', "You can't keep me out of my sky."
"You can't keep me outta my sky."

Do you know this guy named Mal
Well he is someone really swell
And he's a great captain, too
Well he's got the greatest ship
And he can give the Alliance the slip
Any time his crew comes under attack.
And this guy is really loyal
Keeps his temper under boil
He gets in fights it's true
But sometimes there nothing he can do
Because the Alliance is full of creeps and jerks
And often with criminals he works
But honor is Mal's middle name
Ah, yes, he's a great guy
