Computer help?

For some reason, my laptop keeps randomly not sensing the power chord. Like, it'll be plugged in, I type, and it thinks it's unplugged. I tried to charge itall day while I was at work, and it's only about half-charged.

Any ideas what I can do, short of taking it to a professional?
