Last week was PJ day at school and, on PJ days, the kids also bring their stuffed toys. I said something to one of the kids about toys being alive and moving around when humans aren't around (this ties into something the class and I are writing about my stuffed monkey puppet). She flat out didn't believe me, but the kids and I had fun playing with it.

When I told this to my carpool mate, she freaked out and thought this was a bad thing to say. She never wanted her toys to be alive when she was a kid and thought it a really strange idea. I pointed out that even in The Little Princess, the girl (Sara?) was always trying to catch her doll moving. This well-read woman gave me a blank look and just brought up Chuckie (she was young way before the Chukie movies came out).

Her daughter had this fear, too. L. used to buy the Barbies of the world for her daughter until the daughter confessed that she thought they were trying to kill her in her sleep.

I find this very weird. Not the Barbies, but the idea of not wanting your toys to be alive. I mean, if you love something, wouldn't you want them to play with you?

So. Poll. Mild Toy Story 3 spoilers.
