Can you blame her?
I feel like I should be doing "remember when" posts while I rewatch S2 of Prison Break.
Like, remember Mahone's first partner? The older guy? Not that I'm complaining that he was replaced with Wheeler because, hello, I'm not blind/stupid. But I wonder. Especially since he disappeare right before 2x03, which is when I think the Company first sunk its teeth/claws into Alex.
Or, remember when Lincoln got shot? And Michael healed him with pepper?
Specifics for Scan, briefly so far :
In Lang and Mahone's first scene, when Mahone again forgets personal space as he explains how an escaped con will make a mistake within the first 72 hours?
HEr eyes continually flick to his lips. Like, over and over again. Can you blame her?
Also, Mahone calls Michael's first mistake getting his stuff stolen from his car. Funny. I thought his first mistake would have been almost getting caught in the courthouse while trying to rescue LJ. But who am I to argue with the master?
Love this show, man.
Oh, and one day, I'm going to talk about something Robert Keppner said about letting his kid watch the show. Because... yeah.

I sooooooooo remember that! I was thinking I would be doing the same when I watched it so no I definitely can't blame her. And his voice was very sensual too, describing the wait for the mistake was like some kind of foreplay... guh!
That's what I loved about Lang; Mahone could bawl her out with the rest of them at times but she seemed to bring out a softer side to him too. And she stayed loyal to him.
I actually think the Company got their claws into Alex from the start of the manhunt, maybe even before. Like they knew what he'd done and then just waited for the best opportunity to use him but then it was never explained exactly how/why the Company found out about Shales so I hope maybe it might be explained in s3. More Mahone backstory is what I want!

Until she gleefully predicted that DeeDee would get sick and help them bag C-Note. Mahone's distaste for her there was as strong as a punch.
And she stayed loyal to him.
And, yet, I prefer Wheeler.

I'll never be able to think that. There's such a distinct difference in the way Mahone approached the case in "Manhunt" and "Otis" and after "Scan." "Scan" is where he really started having problems, where he started flashing to Shales, like he was suddenly reminded of him. I think the Company may have known (I'm actually thinking the may have planted Shales's file in Mahone's office, because he looked so shocked when it suddenly appeared on hi desk), but they didn't pull him in until then.
Of course, I also don't think the writers knew until around then. They broke and started writing the character, then decided he needed a darker past. Which, when I read that, explained a lot about the difference in Mahone after 'Scan.'

Very true.

Ah, all the angsty slashability is hard to resist.
You're right that there is a difference in Mahone's demeanour in the first two eps which I think is totally down to the writers changing tack with him. I'm also convinced he was originally due to redeem himself at the end of s2 but they decided to do a bit of a hatchet job to bring him into Sona. I'd love to find out from the writers what they originally had planned.
