That's what I loved about Lang; Mahone could bawl her out with the rest of them at times but she seemed to bring out a softer side to him too.
Until she gleefully predicted that DeeDee would get sick and help them bag C-Note. Mahone's distaste for her there was as strong as a punch.
And she stayed loyal to him.
And, yet, I prefer Wheeler.
I actually think the Company got their claws into Alex from the start of the manhunt, maybe even before.
I'll never be able to think that. There's such a distinct difference in the way Mahone approached the case in "Manhunt" and "Otis" and after "Scan." "Scan" is where he really started having problems, where he started flashing to Shales, like he was suddenly reminded of him. I think the Company may have known (I'm actually thinking the may have planted Shales's file in Mahone's office, because he looked so shocked when it suddenly appeared on hi desk), but they didn't pull him in until then.
Of course, I also don't think the writers knew until around then. They broke and started writing the character, then decided he needed a darker past. Which, when I read that, explained a lot about the difference in Mahone after 'Scan.'
