Okay, so this part has a lot of spoilers for what I've planned for the future of COTW. It probably needs some explination. So, if you want to read, here's a summary under the cut.
During the summer that Lex is missing (after season 2), Clark goes to metropolis and gets heavily involved with Morgan Edge. One night, he runs into Grant. Grant takes Clark home, gets the ring off. Clark stays the day, but goes back to Morgan at night. This continues for some time, whch Clark doing more and more hedonistic crap at night with Morgan and going back to Grant during the day, who shelters and takes care of him. Eventually, Clark stays with Grant for good, tired of Morgan and that life. Grant falls in love with Clark and tries to make a life for them, Then Morgan finds out about Clark's healing properties and tries to turn him over to Lionel. Clark manages to stay safe and plans to accept the life Grant is offering him when Lex comes back. Clark returns to Smallville with Lex, leaving Grant heartbroken. Eventually, he meets Jason Teague and they become involve. Jason helps put Grant back together emotionally, but when Lex goes insane, Clark goes to Grant for help to shelter him. Jason, furious at what he sees as a betrayle, leaves the country. Grant helps out Clark and Lex, but when Lex gets better, he never feels comfortable around Grant again. Jason meets Lana in Paris and finds out that she knows Clark Kent. He decides to return to SV with her so he can at least meet the infamous Clark. He wants to confront him, but they end up becoming friends. Jason reconnects with Grant eventually and they get back together. Grant and Clark come to an understanding, but there is a lingering longing/affection between them.
You might be able to understand the fic without the spoilers, I'm not sure. I can never tell. Anyway:

"Women don't need to gain this much weight," Lex said as he and Clark walked down the street. He was nibbling on a handful of trail mix that Clark had packed and complaining with each and every bite. "They only need to gain twenty-five to thirty pounds. The AI is being ridiculous."
"Women start with more body fat than men. And, in your case, *everyone* has more body fat than you, except for models and anorexics."
"Did you see that program on Twenty-Twenty the other day? About males who have anorexia. They're calling it manorexia, as if this is a brand new thing. And like they don't report on it at least once every year." Lex rolled his eyes.
Clark slipped his hand into Lex's and tugged him away from a slick spot on the sidewalk. "I missed it, but Lois caught it." He glanced at Lex. "She asked why you weren't on it."
"And that's why I hate Lois."
"You do not hate Lois."
"I do, too. Here." Lex tugged Clark over to the bookstore.
Clark groaned, dragging his feet. "Not another pregnancy book. Lex, there was an article in the Planet like six months ago talking about how all these pregnancy books just serve to panic women more than anything else. And they aren't even all that relevant to you."
"Clark..."
"Look, if you want more information, we can go back to the Fortress and you can question the AI to death. How's that?"
"Clark..."
"Lex," Clark whined.
Lex crossed his arms over his chest and glared at Clark. "Are you done?"
He stuck out his lower lip and pouted for a few more seconds. He turned the puppy dog eyes on him. He dug his toe into the sidewalk. He fluttered his eyelashes.
Then he straightened. "Yeah, I'm done. But I still think it's a bad idea."
"The special edition trade of Warrior Angel just came out. Plus, I need a book for my dissertation. I checked this morning and it's in."
Clark blushed and hung his head, suitably chastised. "Sorry. I just assumed..."
"No, really?" Lex pushed the door to the bookstore open and pulled Clark inside. "I don't know how I'm going to finish school. I have six more months until I defend my dissertation. How the hell am I going to go if I'm pregnant and fat?"
He rubbed Lex's back. "Maybe it won't be noticeable." Why did he always say such stupid things?
/That's what I want to know,/ Lex teased. He squeezed Clark's hand. "Meet you in the music section in twenty?"
"Sounds good. Stay away from the pregnancy books."
Lex rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I will." They kissed then parted.
Clark watched Lex walk away, gracefully as ever, but with more caution. His hand was over the baby, as was his habit since they'd found out. His skin gleamed palely under the harsh lighting of the store. That was another thing that was going to have to change, though. The AI said that Lex needed to spend at least an hour and a half in the sun every day. The baby was part Kryptonian and to help ensure its survival, it needed to be fed the energy from the sun.
"And when she starts kicking," Lex had said. "Won't her superpowers make her able to kick a hole in my side?"
"Her powers will not be a danger to you. They will not develop while she is in the womb. The sun will only aid the development of the fetus."
Clark would be sorry to see Lex tan. He didn't look bad with tanned skin, but he lost some of the ethereal beauty that had initially drawn Clark to him all those years ago.
With a sigh, Clark turned away from Lex and wandered over to the true crime section. A new book about Morgan Edge had been released recently. He'd been looking forward to reading it, wanting to learn more about the man he'd been so entangled with that one dreadful summer. He'd done some of his own research prior to the book coming out, driven by idle curiosity and the need to understand what had made the man the way he was, but had given it up after Morgan's death a few years ago. He'd seen Morgan just before he died. Morgan had actually apologized for using Clark the way he had, in all the ways he had.
And he hadn't asked Clark for a last minute reprieve. Even though he went to his grave convinced Clark held the cure for Morgan's illness, he didn't ask.
"Dude, you're buying that crap?"
Oh shit.
Clark looked up from the book and forced a smile on his face. "Hey, Jason."
"Hey, Clark." Jason tugged Clark into a friendly hug and clapped him on the back. Then he took the book away. "This is dangerous, man. Just let it go."
"Morgan's dead, Jason." He took the book back. "It's not like he can do anything to me."
Jason shrugged and held up his hands. "Just trying to help out. I know a bit about addiction, you know." His smile was self-deprecating. "This seems like that kind of behavior."
Clark rolled his eyes. "It's not like I talk about him all the time, or have a shrine set up to him or anything. If I'm addicted to anything, it's Lex."
"And being a hero."
Well, if he was going to play like that... "And truth and justice. All that stuff. This?" He held out the book. "It's just an interest. It's part of my past that I've never completely understood. If it was a book about Lionel, I'd do the same. Only, you know. Without letting Lex know because it'd kill him."
"Oh, totally. If I ever caught Grant reading a book about my mom, I'd kill him for sure. Speaking of, he's here with me."
"Shit!" Clark all but threw the book back on the shelf. "Why didn't you tell me? Where is he?" He clapped his hands on Jason's shoulders and propelled him down the aisle, away from True Crime. Even the mystery section was too close; fiction seemed safest.
Jason was smirking at him. "I don't see why it matters."
"Fuck you." He stopped once the True Crime section and the book was out of sight. "Okay. This is better."
Jason plucked a book off the shelf and turned it to the back. A delighted smile spread over his face. "An English rose blooming in the untamed jungles of South America, Eden Farraday lives a life of independence -- unheard of for a lady -- with her doctor-turned-scientist father," he read in a dramatically seductive voice. "But Eden misses England desperately. When the dangerous and darkly charming Lord Jack Knight sails into her life, she seizes her chance to return to civilization, stowing away aboard his London-bound ship."
Clark tried to snatch the book away, but Jason nimbly avoided him and continued reading.
"Roguish and charismatic, a self-made shipping tycoon with a shadowy past and a well-guarded heart, Jack is sailing on a vital secret mission. When the redheaded temptress is discovered aboard his vessel, he reacts with fury -- and undeniable lust." He looked up. "Didn't Lex have red hair? Are you two roleplaying?"
He tried for the book again. "I'm not the one holding the book. And, if I recall correctly, your boyfriend has tons of red hair."
Jason smirked. "And the passion to go with it."
Clark grabbed the book and tossed it back on the shelf. "Temper, too."
"Oh, like Lex is an angel."
He just snorted.
"So." Jason took another book from the shelf and turned it over in his hands. His fingers caressed the raised lines of the picture on the front as if he were blind and it were Braille.
"How are things?"
"Fine."
Dark green eyes met his, studied for a minute as he continued to trace the picture. "You sure?"
Clark frowned. Jason seemed suddenly so unsure. Hesitant. "Um, yeah. Why?"
"Oh, no reason. I was just wondering." He put the book back. Almost immediately, he took up another. Fingers traced the raised lettering.
"Jason, what's..."
"He's trying to find out if you or Lex is sick," Grant's Southern drawl came from behind Clark.
Even after all these years, that voice still had an affect on him. Clark felt his face flush. His stomach did a flip. He violently hoped that Lex stayed in whatever section he was in.
Clark turned. "Why... why would he think that?"
Grant gave Clark's arm a squeeze before moving next to his lover. "Whitney was in town a couple days ago for a conference. He and Jason had lunch and Whitney mentioned that your parents are moving in with you and Lex for awhile. He didn't know why."
"Oh. Oh," he breathed in sudden understanding. God, was that what they all thought? Crap, that hadn't been his intention, but... it made sense. Why else would they be inviting everyone over, suddenly, out of the blue, and on short notice, unless to announce something horrible?
Damn. This was what they got when Lex had him issue the invitations.
"No, nothing's wrong. We're both fine, really." He ran his hand through his hair. "Um, it's just, uh, well. Lex and I are thinking of moving. Maybe a house or something. A bigger apartment. And Lex is busy finishing up his research and dissertation, and you know how my schedule is, so Mom and Dad are coming to help us." It was almost the truth.
Both men suddenly beamed at him.
Okay. That was unexpected. "Um. What?"
"Nothing. Nothing." Jason poked Grant in the side. "I shoulda listened to you."
"What? Why?"
"Jason." Grant took Jason's poking hand and squeezed it gently. "Don't get ahead of yourself." He shook his head. "It's nothin'. Don't worry yourself about it. Whitney just said a few things to Jason at lunch that got him worried. Parents moving in, a party that you're having this weekend. Whitney said he wasn't worried, because your folks weren't, but Jason got it into his head that something was wrong. A certain savior hasn't been seen in about a week, which is unusual since normally he can't seem to stop himself from wearing to death," Grant said with a glare that made Clark squirm. "So he's been worried. I tried to come up with alternatives to the gloom and doom that always haunt this boys mind."
"Hey! I'm not as dark as all that."
"Right," Grant drawled, rolling his eyes at Clark. "Anyway, one of the alternatives I came up with is that you're adopting a child."
"And you're getting a bigger house, so..." Jason grinned.
Oh. Damn. Well. "Uh...."
"That's not a bad guess," Lex said, coming around the corner behind Jason and Grant. "But we can't tell you." He moved next to Clark and put a possessive arm around Clark's waist. He had a pleasant smile on his face, but Clark could feel that he was embarrassed and unhappy. Grant, as usual, looked fantastically sexy and Lex had gained four pounds in the past few days. It wasn't noticeable to anyone but him, but Clark could feel the misery radiating off him.
"Of course not," Grant said smoothly. He slipped his hand into Jason's. His smile bordered the line of insincerity.
The tension was thick. Clark shot Jason a look, but he could only shrug helplessly.
"Come to the party on Sunday," Lex said, surprisingly.
"We wouldn't want to intrude," Jason said right away. "We're not angling for an invitation or anything, we just..."
"No," interrupted Lex. "We go too far back for you not to be included. We should have called you in the first place. Sorry about that."
"Lex," Clark said softly, but Lex squeezed his hand.
"Please, come. It starts at two."
Grant and Jason exchanged glances. Jason sighed and shrugged, obviously leaving it up to Grant.
"Should we bring anything?" Grant asked after a moment, looking at Lex.
Lex shook his head. "No, you don't have to. Thanks for the offer."
He nodded. "Very well. See you Sunday."
Jason pulled away from Grant and hugged Clark. "Sorry," he whispered into his ear.
"Don't worry about it. See you later."
"Call if things get too bad?"
"Lex'll be fine. Don't worry. Go." He pushed Jason away.
Grant didn't dare hug Clark in the presence of Lex. He nodded at both men, took Jason's hand again, and left.
Clark turned to Lex. "Lex..."
"I don't want to talk about it."
"Baby..."
"Clark!" Lex snapped, cheeks flushed. "I don't want to talk about it okay? It's not like they don't know about you. They would have found out eventually. They might as well find out with everyone else. At least if we're surrounded by our friends, Grant won't say anything."
"He wouldn't say anything anyway. He's not like that."
"Oh, like he wouldn't point out how unsuitable I am for this. How I'm probably going to kill myself and Lara by just trying to carry her." He pressed his hand over his eyes. "Grant would have been a better choice."
Clark pulled Lex to him. Kissed his temple. "You're the best choice I could have made. You're mine. My love, now and always. You're the one I want to have our baby with, not him. And, unlike you, he wouldn't have agreed. No matter how much he loved me, he wouldn't have been able to handle even the idea of being pregnant. You're so much more open to this. So much stronger than he was." He lifted Lex's head and kissed gently. "And, if he dares say anything disparaging about my husband, I promise I will never speak to him ever again. Got it?"
Lex nodded, blinking tears out of his eyes. "I know he's a good man. It just still hurts. I'm stupid, I know."
"No, you're not. You, me, Grant? It was complicated. He's not over it either, you know. He feels that you saw him at his worst, you think the same. Both of you act like you expect the other to gloat at any minute, and I know that neither is the type to do it. I should lock you both in a room and make you work this out."
"I'm trying."
"So is he." He kissed Lex again. "Thank you."
Lex wiped his eyes and stepped away from Clark. "You're welcome."
Clark took his hand and squeezed. "Lunch?"
"Yeah. I want pasta. And lots of cheese."
"Sounds good." Clark grinned. "I know just the place. Let's go."
