I Believe. I knew it was similar to (or riffed off of) some other song I knew, but it wasn't until I got a chance to listen to it on my way home I got it: It's I Have Confidence from The Sound of Music.

(If this has been already discussed everywher else, keep in mind, I've never heard any songs until Sunday).

It's pretty clever, the way there are so many little phrases that niggle:

Ever since I was a child I tried to be the best
So what happened?
My family and friends all said I was blessed

Your'e supposed to be all so excited to be teaching of Christ cross the sea
I can't allow my faith to be shaken
Oh what's the matter with me?

I've always longed to help the needy,
To do the things I never dared,
This was the time for me to step up
So then why was I so scared?

A warlord who shoots people in the face.
What's so scary about that?
I must trust that my Lord is mightier
And always has my back.
Now I must be completly devout
I can't have even one shred of doubt...

The tune's not the same, but my brain is trying to make it the same.

I've been listening to the soundtrack non-stop since Monday--love it! And yeah, I got the "I Have Confidence" salute as soon as I heard, "A warlord who shoots people in the face--what's so scary about that?" LOL!

The song "All American Prophet" seems like a big nod to "Trouble" from "The Music Man" don't you think?

I really wish I could see this, but I don't think it'll be coming to Arkansas any time soon--or ever, really.
