I liked the implications of the bloody nose when it first showed up, but Linc's explanation made it much less interesting. Now, I'm all for torturing and injuring the characters I like the most, but this one just doesn't work in my head. I was hoping for your first suggestion, because the poor boy must be running on fumes at this point which makes the cancer story kinda unnecessary.
You know, you could always adjust the canon here. You've started early enough that the conversation with Lincoln doesn't have to happen, and leave it open for any one of the above interpretations.
I have very little trust in the PTB of all of this season's shows. Even Supernatural has some issues for me this year. But we can always hope...
