I think one of the first fics in this fandom I read had Gene kissing Sam really tenderly, and it was the hottest thing ever. The contrast was just *perfect*, so that's sort of been my personal canon ever since. The build up is rough and passionately violent, but once they're their, it's surprisingly tender and loving.
